We live in a hyperconnected world today wherein nearly every adult has a mobile phone and internet access. While this makes us all more accessible, it also leaves us wondering: should we be equally accessible to everyone?
Unfortunately, the identifiers that we depend on to connect us – phone numbers, email IDs, usernames – are “one size fits all”. That is, anyone you connect with over these identifiers has equal access to you. And, more concerningly, the internet has done a terrific job of aggregating data around these identifiers, making personal info searchable to anyone who has your contact info.
What the world desperately needs, then, is a way to connect. One that doesn’t involve identifiers and that allows people to connect on their own terms.
What, exactly, does it mean to connect on your own terms though?
It means taking charge of how, when, and with whom you communicate without having to risk revealing unnecessarily personal info. It means no more spam; it means gating who can share your contact; it means determining who can add you to a group; it means having the option to disconnect a chat if it’s run its course; and so much more.
We developed Port – an app to give everyone precise control over who can reach them and how much access they have.
We envision a world where people can connect freely and without hesitation. Next time you hesitate to share your contact information with someone new, share a Port instead – because...
With Port, you connect on your terms.
